Linux Systems Administrator

DescriptionThe Defense Group at Leidos seeks a Linux Systems Administrator for the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract.
This position will support the sustainment and ongoing development of the DISA's Enterprise Network Engineering Tools (ENET) solution and the Layer 2 Layer 3 VPN SDN.
While this role does offer the ability for remote work, one must live within commuting distance to Scott AFB, IL (St.
Louis, MO) or Fort Meade, MD for on-site support.
This position is about 50% remote and 50% on site.
Primary Responsibilitieso Work independently to ensure the reliability, availability, and security by proactively monitoring the system, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to ensure high availability and continuity of operations.
o Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to work independently.
o Maintain configuration management and baseline control of development, test, pre-production, and production environments.
o Conduct regular security scans, analyze results, and implement resolutions including testing of new hardware and software and ensure compliance with DISA STIGso Operate and maintain the environments, including patching of operating systems and COTS/FOSS/GOTSo Perform and test regular backups.
o Monitor and tune system and network performance, including RHEL and VMWare systems, for optimal system availability.
o Configure, manage, and maintain components of the SDN solution (application servers, load balancers, databases, operating systems, etc.
)o Deploy ENET systems in the Lab environment, integrate with other systems, perform testing and validation.
o Manage, track, and maintain configuration items including licenses, SSL certificates and the hardware/software baseline.
o Support ENET baseline deployments, upgrades and updates to the production environment including the installation and configuration of new software and hardware.
o Lead planning and migration of ENET infrastructure and applications from the Data Center environment to the AWS cloud.
o Create, maintain, and implement detailed documentation and maintain standard operating procedures.
o Perform trend analysis on component failures, network/node outages, and system performance parameters.
o Interact with software and hardware vendors to evaluate vendor products and make recommendations to purchase hardware and software.
o Work with network engineers and developers to troubleshoot environment issues as necessary.
o Escalate support issues to vendors as necessary and coordinate resolution.
o Manage access including creation and management of user and service accounts.
o Provide support on a M-F business hours schedule, also responsible for on-call, extended hour, and weekend support as required by mission or emergency situations.
o Responsible for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas.
o Manages large projects or processes with moderate impact on the achievement of sub-family results.
o Communicates with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members.
o May communicate with parties external to the organization (e.
g.
, sub-contractors, vendors, etc.
).
o Works to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.
Basic Qualificationso Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
o Strong background in Linus or UNIX server setup, deployment, and maintenanceo Significant experience examining error logs, systems performance data.
o Familiar with best practices and techniques to maintain and enhance information security.
o The candidate must have Bachelor's Degree with 8-12
years of prior relevant experience or a Master's Degree with 6-10
years of prior relevant experience.
Will consider work experience in lieu of a degree.
o Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
o The candidate must have an active Secret clearance.
o Must have CompTIA Security
Certification or its equivalence.
o Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to work independently.

Pay Range $84,500.
00 - $130,000.

00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
